Is group work beneficial for producing creative designs in STEM design education?

Abstract Creativity is a significant element in design education, and frequently competency during recruitment for professions. Group work individual are widely employed higher education. Many studies have highlighted the merits of employing group cultivating collaborative abilities fostering sought-after employability skills. Although benefits practice education recognised, few shown evidence that outperforms regarding creative activities contexts. Therefore, aim this research to explore whether or more beneficial students generating designs STEM A case study, involving two cohorts second-year undergraduate studying UK Engineering degree Industrial Design programme, reported. The study compares outputs produced by tackling same challenge product module but work, respectively. results show no differences been found between considering novelty, usefulness overall creativity. Further analysis reveals student’s academic performance not significantly related level creativity produced. This indicates educators should employ both complement each other suggests potential solutions enhance students’
